2016 International Air Mail Rate Increases

2016 International Air Mail Rate Increases

Effective January 19, 2016

Each January marks the time where the United States Postal Services revises their postage rates and this year is no different. In 2015, the USPS held rates steady as they had increased rates by 86% on average in the prior year and 2016 marks another substantial increase in International shipping rates as well as domestic.

One of our core business principals is sending smiles around the world. Our office map of the world is loaded with customers from nearly every spot on the globe and we love hearing from our worldwide customers. We know that there are two phenomenom occurring: Increased rates and a strengthening of the U.S. Dollar against most currencies. At PopCultureSpot.com, we have done everything that we can do to mitigate the costs increases, so here's some of the details.

Up until this point, USPS Air Mail prices varied based upon every few ounces and that now varies by every half pound. Once you go from 15.9 ounces to one pound, the rates nearly double. Based on our customer ordering patterns, we're looking at an average increase of shipping cost of 28% per order. This applies to all countries other than Canada. For our friends in Canada, in three years, we have seen a doubling of rates. USPS rates to Canada and Mexico are lower than other all other International locations, but gaps are closing in.

Here's our policy and what we're doing:

  • You're paying our cost.
  • The shipping rate is for the cost of shipping and packaging.

It's really that simple. We're not marking up the cost, you're paying the cost of shipping from us, period. Please keep in mind that lightweight packages for items like stickers, pins, and costume props remain lower in price.

Thank you for your continued business!
