2016 International Air Mail Rate Increases January 20, 2016 08:12

Effective January 19, 2016

Each January marks the time where the United States Postal Services revises their postage rates and this year is no different. In 2015, the USPS held rates steady as they had increased rates by 86% on average in the prior year and 2016 marks another substantial increase in International shipping rates as well as domestic.

One of our core business principals is sending smiles around the world. Our office map of the world is loaded with customers from nearly every spot on the globe and we love hearing from our worldwide customers. We know that there are two phenomenom occurring: Increased rates and a strengthening of the U.S. Dollar against most currencies. At PopCultureSpot.com, we have done everything that we can do to mitigate the costs increases, so here's some of the details.

Up until this point, USPS Air Mail prices varied based upon every few ounces and that now varies by every half pound. Once you go from 15.9 ounces to one pound, the rates nearly double. Based on our customer ordering patterns, we're looking at an average increase of shipping cost of 28% per order. This applies to all countries other than Canada. For our friends in Canada, in three years, we have seen a doubling of rates. USPS rates to Canada and Mexico are lower than other all other International locations, but gaps are closing in.

Here's our policy and what we're doing:

  • You're paying our cost.
  • The shipping rate is for the cost of shipping and packaging.

It's really that simple. We're not marking up the cost, you're paying the cost of shipping from us, period. Please keep in mind that lightweight packages for items like stickers, pins, and costume props remain lower in price.

Thank you for your continued business!

International Shipping Rate Changes and Reductions November 06, 2015 09:31

In January 2013, the United States Postal Service raised international postal rates on average of 86% in the largest annual rate increase in history. During 2014 and 2015, the USPS raised rates by an average of roughly 15% and this upcoming January the current proposal is to increase shipping rates substantially higher.

With these factor at hand, we have worked diligently to mitigate shipping costs and bring them as low as we can. As of today, November 6, 2015, we've altered our shipping rates (again) as we try to cut any cost out that we can for you.

We've substantially reduced the rates of lightweight shipments. Examples of lightweight shipments are items that are flat and as stated, lightweight in manner. Many products like our bumper stickers, pins, and some costume accessories now fall under this category. For products like our bobble heads, we had reduced the rates as low as possible and they are unaffected.

If you're in Canada, that would be mean an order with a few stickers would now be $3.00 less and with our new International flat lightweight category, all other countries would see an example order of a few stickers at half the shipping cost as before. It's a substantial savings and we continue to work on cutting any costs and to literally pass the savings on to you.

Thanks again for your continued International business! We greatly appreciate it and love sending smiles around the globe!
